Buku Music + Arts Festival is right around the corner to kick off the Festival Season right, and even though the music ends at 1 am, Late Night Funktions will keep the party going at The Howlin Wolf New Orleans from 1 am-5 am with 2 nights of after parties and a Thursday night preparty all with lineups you won’t want to miss.
Due to a recent shooting in New York, AraabMusik is no longer able to play as planned at the Friday Late Night Funktion. While those of us looking forward to his performance are saddened by this event, we wish him a fast and easy recovery and look forward to catching his next shows. That being said, the show must go on, and the Friday Late Night Funktion still brings the heat with headliner Chill Harris stepping in to fill the spot.
Formerly known as Kill Paris (who changed his name after the Paris bombings), Chill Harris has generously stepped in to lead you into the night with his feel good vibes and dance anthems (here’s to hoping Harris drops his official Remix of Griz ‘Stop Trippin’). Alongside Harris will be Wick-it the Instigator, Daily Bread, and Muzzy Bearr, who is Griz’s guitarist.
Thursday night’s pre-party is sure kick off the weekend right with Zoogma headlining. From electronic, funk, rock, and hip-hop; you name it, Zoogma’s got it. Not to mention their live instrumentation brings an amped up energy to a crowd only suited for a crowd like Buku goers. Also, be sure to catch Kaminanda for some infectious tribal dance beats, as well as Freddy Todd and Dino Brawl to round out Thursday night.
If you missed out on Pretty Lights late night tickets, but are craving some electro-soul and hip hop beats to get down to, Krooked Drivers at the Saturday Late Night Funktion is where it’s at. Even with the recent split in the group, Donnie D’Albora has shown that he can get a room groovin’ no problem. Maddy O’ Neal still shows her support while she starts her own ventures, and Krooked Drivers music has those perfect soulful vibes that NOLA needs to throw down late into the night. Also headlining is Space Jesus, Marvel Years, and Psymbionic, who are ending this amazing weekend on the right note.
Don’t wait out to buy these tickets because you know when that late night NOLA vibe hits you will want to to be prepared with some of the best music the night can offer. See you there!
