The ambient mellow sound of chillwave is a resonance of soothing synthesizers, filtered vocals, and meditative bass lines. Some people, if not many, thought of this genre to be more or less dead. However surprisingly enough, out of the blue mist of electronic indie music here’s a new album; Paracosm, from indie artist; Washed Out (Ernest Greene).
Washed Out: Paracosm
The album starts off with ambient birds and bells followed by open sounding bass and drums in harmony with violins and chimes being mixed together by a layer of muddy filters. The whole first minute creates the feeling as if you’re watching an overly saturated nature video… But then the come in, with the addition of some amazing filtered vocals and turning your nature video into a late 70’s psychedelic version of outer space.
The whole album mixes together beautiful sounds, made up of sexy bass lines, mellowed vocals, and mesmerizing synths, all recorded on a tape caked with Vaseline. All of which bring out an extremely mellow side of electronic music. Parocasm’s release date is August 13th; you can pre order the album from his website.
