Infrasound released their Phase One announcement yesterday and the response from fans has been emphatic, enthusiastic, and overwhelmingly positive. To us that can only mean one thing: this festival must be incredible.
If you’re not one to take the word of thousands of fans and still need more convincing we’d like to draw your attention to our hand-picked playlist featuring nine of the artists that Infrasound has announced thus far.
Tipper, Benga, Ott, Opiuo, Thriftworks, Nominus, BadKlaat, Beak Nasty and Goopsteppa are all making appearances on this playlist for their unique and cerebral sounds. Seeing just a few of these names on a festival bill is enough to get some people’s brains buzzing so to see them all together is getting us all kinds of tingly.
Check out our 10 tracks below and our SoundCloud Playlist for a convenient platform to listen and get yourself excited.
“Covered in Lobsters” – Tipper
Headlining Infra just a few days after he’s set to throw down at Counterpoint is Tipper. His glitchy soundscapes never cease to get our brains buzzing and we can’t wait to catch him this summer.
“Open Your Eyes” – Benga
Considered by many to be the godfather of dubstep, Benga has emerged from hibernation to make some appearances this summer. First at Red Rocks to open to Bassnectar and now we’re seeing him again at Infra to give the people a taste of the old school dub sound.
“The Touch” – Thriftworks
The Oakland native Jake Atlas, aka Thriftworks, will be making the trip to Wisconsin. After the success of his three part album Fade, Fader, Fadest in 2014 we’re pumped to see him on this lineup.
“Getting Blunted” – BadKlaat
BadKlaat giving us our first taste of some trap on this list. He’s gonna bring the bass and put that Funktion-1 sound system to the test.
“Queen of All Everything” – Ott
Majestic soundscapes. That’s what I think about when I hear Ott. He’ll be making the trip up from Georgia same as Tipper after he throws down at Counterpoint a few days before Infra.
“Rim Shock” – Nominus
Hailing from San Francisco is the man behind Nominus. Defying genres and making vibey, glitchy stuff like “Rim Shock” caught our ears and further piqued our curiosity for his music.
“CRYSTALS” – Goopsteppa
Definitely one of the most unique names we’ve come across lately, Goopsteppa is a Canadian specializing in melodic bass tunes. His latest EP CRYSTALS reflects his love for nature and the mountains. Catch him in the woods of British Columbia making beats on trees.
“Midnight on the Run” – Boombox (Beak Nasty Remix)
Spreading the teachings of chill funk is Beak Nasty who shares a home state with Infrasound. “Midnight on the Run” is a remix but it beautifully captures the vibe he’s putting out.
“Quack Fat” – Opiuo
Coming off a huge year in 2014 is Australian native Opiuo. He’ll be making an appearance with a live band that will mesh glitch-hop with a splash of funk and the live instrumental aspect. He’s last on this list but first on the list of “must catch sets” at Infra.
If this selection of tracks mixed with the community and scenery of Infrasound don’t make you want to get out there and catch some of these positive vibes I’m afraid there’s nothing that can be done. Tickets are on sale now get em here!
