ARC Music Festival Artist Spotlight: Gene Farris

We’re about one month out from celebrating house music coming home! ARC Music Festival returns to Chicago’s Union Park this Labor Day Weekend, August 30-September 1, 2024 for three-nights overflowing with house and techno. ARC pays homage to the city’s roots by connecting Chicago’s house music originators and the global electronic music scene. They have invited some of the most notable names in the industry to take the stage including hometown pioneers, Derrick Carter, DJ Hyperactive, Gene Farris, Green Velvet, Hiroko Yamamura, Honey Dijon, Mark Farina, Mike Dunn, Terry Hunter, and many more.

One of the most special elements of ARC is its emphasis on sharing the history of house music and highlighting the artists that are keeping it alive. We want to do the same and today we’ll be spotlighting hometown favorite, Gene Farris.

Hailing from the birthplace of house music, Gene Farris has been championing his city’s sound all over the globe for over three decades. The talented producer kicked off his musical career in the early 90’s, spinning at underground warehouse parties and releasing his first record on Green Velvet‘s esteemed label, Relief Records. Gene has been producing for 20 plus years, collecting a large music catalogue with major collaborations and releases on dance music’s most prestigious labels, including Cajual, Relief, Dirtybird, Defected, Soma, Toolroom, and his own notable imprint, Farris Wheel Recordings.

The DJ/producer and label boss will be playing a b2b set with fellow house pioneer, Marshall Jefferson at the elrow stage on Sunday, September 1. The set times aren’t out yet so be on the look out and come back here for updates! In the meantime, check out Gene Farris’ top tracks on Spotify!
