Bass Center is undoubtedly going to be one of the most monumental events of the summer, featuring two extended sets from the one and only Bassnectar. Bassheads from all over the continental U.S.A and beyond will be traveling in for this two-day extravaganza taking place at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado.
This event will be amazing not only because of the location and extended Bassnectar sets, but because of the supporting acts as well. Festival-goers will experience sets from Flux Pavilion, Wu-Tang Clan, Flying Lotus, Porter Robinson, Lupe Fiasco, AlunaGeorge, Minnesota, G Jones, Dabin & Thriftworks. This is the most bass-stacked lineup of any Bass Center event to date, and the Bassnectar team is bringing enhanced production to make this Bass Center the best one yet.
Flux Pavilion
Flux Pavilion is a singer-songwriter, producer, DJ and label owner from the United Kingdom. He began making music in 2008, and has since headlined festivals such as Coachella, EDC Las Vegas, Counterpoint, Electric Forest and more. He has performed on three United States tours and two United Kingdom tours, while also performing live with artists such as Chiddy Bang and Foreign Beggars. He co-founded Circus Records with Doctor P in 2009 before releasing his first single, “Bass Cannon”, in 2011. His deep wub sounds and crowd-moving bass are a wonderful addition to the Bass Center lineup because he will get the crowd moving and ready for a good night ahead.
Wu-Tang Clan
Wu-Tang Clan is a hip-hop group from Staten Island, New York, originally composed of RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, Ol’ Dirty Bastard and Cappadonna. The group became known in 1993, since the release of their first album, Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), which is considered to be one of the greatest albums in hip-hop history. They have since released seven platinum and gold studio albums and sold more than 40 million albums worldwide. The Wu-Tang Clan was a surprising addition to the lineup by Bassnectar, being an older hip-hop group, but that doesn’t mean they won’t bring the house down when they take the stage and woo the crowd.
Flying Lotus
Flying Lotus, or sometimes referred to as FlyLo, is a music producer, DJ and rapper from Los Angeles, California named Steven Ellison. He attended Los Angeles Film School, which is where he learned to incorporate stories into his music. One day he sent song submissions into a competition on Adult Swim/Cartoon Network, and he was accepted, creating Flying Lotus. Around this time, he created his first album, 1983. Since then, he has released four more albums as Flying Lotus and one album, Duality, as his rap alias, Captain Murphy. His sets are a must-see because they include psychedelic visuals and an immaculate performance. Flying Lotus is a marvelous adjunct to the lineup, and his set will be nothing short of astounding.
Porter Robinson
Porter Robinson is a producer and DJ from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He began producing music at age 12, and released his first single, “Say My Name,” in 2010. Robinson was only 22 when he dropped his first studio album, Worlds. He incorporates anime and Japanese culture into his music because he is majorly influenced by these arts. Three of his records reached number one on Beatport’s overall chart before he was 21. He has played alongside Tiesto, Deadmau5, Skrillex and others, headlining festivals such as Shaky Beats, Ultra, Electric Daisy Carnival, Electric Forest, and more. Robinson plays live sets and DJ sets, which are two completely different experiences. The live sets include vocals from Robinson, while the DJ sets are more electronic based. Either set from Porter Robinson is miraculous, and Bass Center will be no exception. Robinson is a great addition to the lineup because of the experience he gives his audience when he plays.
Lupe Fiasco
Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, or better known by his stage name, Lupe Fiasco, is a rapper, producer, and songwriter from Chicago, Illinois. At 19 years old, Fiasco joined the hip-hop group Da Pak, which introduced the rapper to Jay Z. This friendship helped Fiasco sign a record deal with Atlantic Records. in 2006, he released his debut album Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor, which received three Grammy nominations. Since then, Fiasco has released four more studio albums and made music with Trey Songz, Guy Sebastian, Future and more. In 2012, Fiasco teamed up with Bassnectar to create Vava Voom, a huge single with over 1.4 million plays on SoundCloud. Fiasco will be sure to have the crowd up and moving during his set and nobody will want to sit down until the end. He puts on a wonderful live performance and he was a great choice to add to the Bass Center IX lineup.
AlunaGeorge
AlunaGeorge is an electronic pair from London, England. This dynamic duo consists of Aluna Francis (vocals/songwriting) and George Reid (production/instrumentals.) AlunaGeorge released their first single, “You Know You Like It,” in 2012, and since then has reached number two on the UK singles chart and released their first studio album, Body Music, in 2013. They signed with an American record label, Interscope Records, in 2015 and have recently announced the release date of their second studio album, I Remember, in September of this year. This pair has gone nowhere but up since their first release in 2012 and will definitely be a show not to be missed this Summer. AlunaGeorge is on the come-up, and their Bass Center performance will help put them on the map. They are different from other artists on the lineup because of their electronic/pop genre, but the crowd will be sure to love the uptempo attitude of their music.
Minnesota
Christian Bauhofer is an electronic music producer and DJ from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He became interested in EDM after attending Symbiosis Gathering in 2009 and watching killer performances by Pretty Lights, Bassnectar, and the Glitch Mob. After purchasing his first midi controller, Bauhofer tramed up with a few friends to create a production company called Vital SC (now called Vital Events). He eventually split from Vital SC and released his first EP, Panda Snatching Tycoon, in January 2011, under the name Minnesota. Since then, he has traveled to over 50 cities and headlined two tours. Minnesota is going nowhere but up in the EDM world, and his Bass Center set will be one for the books. Bassnectar and Minnesota both use heavy bass sounds in their music, which is why the crowd loves them, and Minnesota will be bringing the bass to Colorado for Bass Center like never before.
G Jones
Greg Jones is an electronic music producer and DJ from Santa Cruz, California. He began producing music in 2012, and he quickly made his way up the ladder in the eyes of the electronic music world after opening for Bassnectar on New Year’s Eve in 2014. Since then, Jones has made collaborations with Bleep Bloop, Bassnectar, Sayer, and more. He has played festivals such as Electric Forest, Lightning in a Bottle, Burning Man, and others, slaying the crowd with his original beats and keeping his fans on their toes. Bassnectar had the right idea by choosing G Jones to open for him on New Years 2015, Halloween 2015, and now Bass Center IX. G Jones is an amazing artist whose spacey, weird bass makes the crowd want more and more until the end of his set.
Dabin
Dabin Lee grew up in Toronto, Canada performing and playing music until he began producing his own music before releasing his first EP, Electropolitics, in March 2012. He then made collaborations with Black Tiger Sex Machine and Daniela Andrade, helping this DJ climb his way into Beatport’s top 50 dubstep singles. He has recently announced the release of his first studio album later in 2016, proving that this Canadian electronic DJ is going nowhere but up in the eyes of the EDM world. Dabin loves to throw down heavy, dark beats while also incorporating lyrics and melodies, making his music easily loveable. He was added to this Bass Center lineup to bring some emotion to the stage while also keeping the bass alive.
Thriftworks
Jake Atlas, or better known by his alias Thriftworks, is an electronic music artist and record producer from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. He began making music when he was 16, merging dubstep with hip-hop and electro. He released his first album, Hermetic Thriftology, in 2010, and has since played at festivals such as Coachella, Electric Forest, Wakarusa, Couterpoint, and more. Thriftworks has toured alongside STS9 and Bassnectar, and his sets are not to be missed when his combinations of electronic music and hip-hop come together to make an original, beautiful sound. Thriftworks is a perfect addition to Bass Center this year because of his electronic style and experimental bass sounds. He fits right into the lineup because he is a crowd favorite, and he knows how to get everyone going with his experimental sounds.
Bass Center is going to be an amazing event for various reasons, whether it be the extended Bassnectar sets or the impressive opening sets from any artist on the lineup. Bass heads will be coming from miles around to celebrate two days of beautiful music and create wonderful memories together, and it will be one for the books.
