For the past four years, Halloween has been synonymous with Freaky Deaky at the Congress Theater. It was apparent that the holiday was near when news of Wolfgang Gartner and the Bloody Beetroots DJ Set was the first came long ago. Wolfgang most recently visited Chicago for Spring Awakening Music Festival. Since then, he has been on top of his game in the studio, producing synth-heavy tracks like ‘Nuke,’ ‘Girl on Girl,’ ‘Girl on Boy,’ and ‘Love & War.’ The Bloody Beetroots will also be bringing their electro house and dance-punk sounds, and we already have a good idea of what their costumes will be.
If Wolfgang and the Beetroots aren’t your style, Flight Facilities will be spinning some indie dance music at Primary. Their funky indie dance music will only be enhanced by the costumed and diverse crowd that the State & Division establishments attract.
Finally, the Portage Theater will host a Halloween edition of Bass Kitchen on Friday starring Downlink, who has worked with a handful of dubstep fiends like Datsik, Excision, and Delta Heavy. The more melodic stylings of NiT GriT are also on the menu – and if you haven’t listened to his tracks before, they’re pretty catchy.
Mau5 heads will roll on the second night of Freaky Deaky, which will be a potent witches brew of BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, trap artist Baauer, drum and bass / dubstep act Kill The Noise, and Australians Tommy Trash and Knife Party. This is the ultimate lineup for the occassion: Is there anything more Halloween-worthy than the first couple seconds of ‘Sleaze’? If things weren’t scary at beginning of the night, I’m sure that after a couple hours of high-intensity tracks from these DJs at the sold-out Congress Theater, the audience will be a frightening scene.
We know you’re just now figuring out your Halloween costume, so we thought we’d take the party planning off of your plate: enter to win a pair of tickets to the Flight Facilities, Bloody Beetroots + Wolfgang Gartner, or Downlink + Nit Grit shows below, thanks to React Presents.
Deadline to enter ticket giveaways is 4 PM Thursday.
