Raise in Dubai and now based on LA, the producer is making all the right moves to climb the ranks of a successful DJ/producer. “Prince,” is his debut, partnering up with vocalist Michael Lanza to help this track ascend to that next level. The single embraces a cinematic aura, featuring many moods all in one track, but not diversifying to the point where the parts of this track feel disconnected or convoluted.
“‘Prince’ showed me that I could incorporate sonic elements from my culture, from South Asia and the Middle East, and represent it on my debut release,” says D Malik on his upcoming release. “That was an important realization for me, having grown up on rap and rock and electronic from afar. It’s a piece of my identity for the world to hear – and that’s why I had to lead with it from the very start.”
