The bass heavy turntablist/DJ/Producer known as Jayceeoh is set to grace the stage at Das Energi Festival in Salt Lake City, Utah. The LA based artist Jake Osher, aka Jayceeoh, has been working hard at his rising stardom for some years now, and his hard work is paying off big time. His Soundcloud profile alone dates back to 2010 and currently has well over 12 million plays. He’s gathered support from artists like Diplo, Bassnectar, Borgore, TJR, and A-trak, just to name a few. He’s had releases on various labels like Dim Mak, Buygore Records, Smog Records, Ultra Records and Atlantic Records. He was also on VH1’s ten episode TV show “Master of the Mix” in mid-2013, and as I’m sure you’ve guessed, he was crowned the champion. Crushing festivals like TomorrowWorld, iHeartRadio festival, EDC Mexico, Lights All Night, Hellow Festival, on top of regular DJ residency’s from LA to Vegas, the chap is keeping busy. He also has his own record label Super 7 Records, coined after his wildly popular DJ mixtape series he started long ago. Does the name Redman ring a bell? Jayceeoh has also paired up with the 90’s rap hit maker to form the duo 1000volts. Jake has certainly been busy, and his catalog shows it.
First track up on the spotlight is the remix Jayceeoh collaborated on with the veteran duo Styles&Comple. It’s a remix to rapper Kevin Gates already incredibly catchy hit “2 Phones” and it’s a banger. A synth heavy trap track with the original chorus left intact that builds into a break and heavy bass and snare fluctuation.
Next up is a track with Jayceeoh’s new project “1000volts,” the collab he has going with Redman titled “LIGHTS OUT.” It’s a cross between rap and feel good hype synthed greatness. That means a lot coming from me, considering my opinion on the current state of rap/hip-hop. But this is overall a dope track. Great raps, a good message, and some marshmello-esque beats.
This track is one of our favorites. This remix has been played by many, and you’ve probably heard it numerous times on XM/Sirius radio. Jayceeoh has sped the tempo up a bit, leaving the gorgeous vocals intact. Adding some heavy bass elements and some signature synths to give it that relentless head bobbing feel. Instant hit with this one.
Last but definitely and absolutely we have saved the best for last, with this phenomenal remix. Have you ever heard a remix that an artist putts together and you just go.. wow. This is one of those remixes. The vision and thought process to take a song from it’s original, into something so transcendent and different from it’s original counterpart. Almost as if they tapped into the artists idea and just took it that much further. Jayceeoh has pushed that boundary and went above and beyond. This track has been an instant classic since we’ve heard it. This is the definition of an amazing trap remix. Especially that second drop.
And there you have it folks. Diversity. Creativity. Longevity. Hard work. This explains the man behind the name Jayceeoh. All of which has paid off for him ten fold, and should give you all that you need to know about how his sets are. The hard work to get where he’s come, you know damn well he throws down a hell of a set to match. If this doesn’t get you as excited as we are for his set at Das Energi, then you need to do some more homework. Your final exam will be at Das Energi the weekend of August 12th at the Great Saltair. All you gotta do is show up. Jayceeoh and Das will take care of the rest.
