For any hip hop head, DJ Muggs is synonymous with everything that was ever right about the street driven genre which exploded throughout the 90’s. An original member of Cypress Hill, Muggs also collaborated and took note under legends like The Alchemist, GZA and Dilated Peoples.
Muggs has been producing EDM (basically forever) and just recently released his album ‘Bass For Your Face’ through Ultra Records. In an effort to pass the creative notions of Muggs on to other artists, Ultra tabbed Des McMahon as well as 6Blocc, Craze and Protohype to remix ‘Wikid’, collectively available on February 19th via iTunes.
Resident WhiteRaverRafting producer Des McMahon seemed to channel his inner Bassnectar with his rendition. Taking a dark and ominous approach, he conspired with the gods of the bass underworld for a composition of pulsating wobbles, cryptic buildups and a flawless drumstep kick which provides the backbone of the work all together.
