Celebrate Electric Zoo Festival’s Big Ten with Pre-Sale and Inaugural Year Throwbacks

This Labor Day weekend will mark a decade of the east coast’s wildest animals flocking to what’s become known as the 6th Boro in New York City – Electric Zoo. As is tradition, the festival will celebrate it’s 10th anniversary by throwing down an unforgettable urban jungle party on Friday August 31 to September 2 at Randall’s Island. Pre-sale is now open to those who hold a unique access code. These early birds will receive priority entry, limited edition wristbands, first dibs on after parties, and more. General sales and a lineup announcement are soon to follow. Until then, we thought it might be fun to take a look way back when the wild journey began in 2009.

The inaugural Electric Zoo Festival by Made Events took place where it still rules today, on Randall’s Island in New York City. In it’s first year, 26,000 revelers flooded the park grounds, home to stages like the ever-so-infamous Sunday School, dancing to a lineup that looked like this….

While today’s lineups have expanded to three days of six stages featuring countless top-line artists of varying genres, the first-ever players can still be seen on the most recent tickets, with many still holding down the reigns as headliners. Whether you’ve been prowling the Zoo since 2009 or have yet to experience the jungle in all its glory, the year over year return of the most prominent DJs and producers in the industry should speak volumes of the festival itself. Ten years ago, Electric Zoo was the electronic music experience New York City lacked. Now, it’s the festival that New Yorkers need to close out every summer.
