Texas’ landmark Halloween event, Freaky Deaky, is starting to sneak up behind us for a good jump scare. We are set to have a ghoulishly good time at the Houston Raceway, with the Disco Donnie production team pulling out all the of the spooky stops to make up for the rescheduling with the pandemic throwing the festival back into the graveyard. With a lineup that has us screaming, including names such as Adventure Club, Blossom, Crizzly, Ghastly, deadmau5, INZO and more, the most terrifying weekend of the year can’t come soon enough. An up and coming producer set to give us a hair-raisingly good time is JVNA.
A multi-instrumentalist, JVNA is someone that has found the balance between light and dark, grit and glitter, and electro pop and melodic bass. From studying classical piano at the age of six to attending the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, she was able to learn how to score films and video games before pursuing her desire to produce future bass inspired by viral game and anime remixes. Her first track, “Catch Me”, was created in honor of her father who had passed away. This was the first look into this dichotomy of energy JVNA would continue to create throughout the rest of her discography. She self directed the music video as well, a first in her career, which has garnered hundred of thousands of views.
This then lead to a sold out tour around the US and skyrocketed her into the spotlight. During the pandemic, she didn’t let the downtime go to waste and released, “At Least It Was Fun”, perfectly encapsulating the experience a lot of us had, about finding solace after going through something difficult, which has amassed over a million streams and counting. Her latest single, “Ghost” is perfectly named for spooky season, is one that we are sure will be amassing huge stream numbers, as it’s already in the thousands after just a couple of days. JVNA took advantage of the year off of shows and touring and started regularly streaming on Twitch, where her fandom grew twice over. Now that the world is opening back up, JVNA has already been hitting up some festival stages, like at Electric Zoo, Sunset Music Festival, and upcoming Autumn Equinox and Freaky Deaky.
Be sure to catch JVNA at The Shrine stage on Friday. Check out some of our favorite’s from her down below. Freaky Deaky tickets are still on sale as well as camping, you can check out more details here. It won’t be long now till we can party under the Halloween moon, so keep those creepy vibes coming and we will see you there.
