Ergot has broken out into the bass scene with his debut release, “Away”. The Texas based producer first found the world of EDM in 2017 after attending his first music festival, Insomniac’s Middlelands, and from there he dove headfirst into producing his own music. Inspired by artists like Dabin, Illenium, Culprit, Tipper, and Liquid Stranger, Ergot explores the underworld of bass and brings out elements that don’t get nearly enough attention.
“Away” flips the expectation of the concept of the drop on its head, providing a lens to intricate layers of melody, rhythm, and vocals. We find ourselves in a sound chamber, with reverberations circling our ears before the curious melody starts to draw us in. Suddenly, we are an amalgamation of squishy synths, snapping percussion, and the guiding light that is Jazzarae’s voice. As we find ourselves sinking in further, we realize that she will never let us “get away”.
