Last week, Gabriel and Dresden excitedly announced to fans that they finally found a home for their emotional dance music. Their “Organized Nature” podcast is now available on iTunes to sooth the souls of the masses and it’s a must subscribe for any trance enthusiast.
This is incredible news for those of us who can’t get enough music; however, after experiencing their sound live for the first time at their DC performance last week – I feel like nothing will compare.
Regardless of my personal feelings towards Ultra Bar as a music venue, I made my way into the city and I couldn’t be happier that I did. Gabriel and Dresden made their show one of the best nights out I’ve experienced in a long time. The set was so infectious, that no one ever stopped moving. The fans, the bartenders, the managers, the people from downstairs who mistakenly wandered off the hip-hop floor… Everyone was pouring sweat as they danced freely and uncontrollably to the beautiful music.
Every transition was smooth and inviting as if they were leading the audience through a whimsical fairytale. The percussion seamlessly morphed into a beautiful array of movement and smiles erupted from cheek to cheek on every face in the house. You could see people of all backgrounds throwing their reservations in the air for the chance to let go with the strangers around them.
It wasn’t a weekend. It wasn’t a holiday. Most of us (me included) probably had work early the next day, but not one person seemed to care. I would trade a rested morning for a night like that any time. If you ever have the opportunity to see this duo live, I admonish you… take it.
