Although we haven’t even made it out of September yet, GRiZ has just announced his fifth annual GRiZMAS shows and it has us holly and jolly, to say the least. Over the years, the event has become an essential set of dates on the midwest holiday calendar, but seems to draw fans from all over the country.
The first night will mark the grand return of the powerhouse fifteen-piece GRiZ Live Band, which made its debut back in September of 2017 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. It’s crazy to think that they sold out Denver’s flagship venue two nights in a row, totalling over 19,000 tickets sold. And now that GRiZ is bringing them back to his hometown in Detroit, it’s going to be an insanely special evening. However, night two will not feature the band as GRiZ will stand alone and perform solo.
Similarly, the 12 days of GRiZMAS extension has received such positive feedback for offering the dance community a chance to not only give back to its youth through charitable donations, but also get some facetime with GRiZ himself. All of the money raised goes straight towards helping fund music education in Detroit public schools. Sounds like a win, win to us! Since its coalition, GRiZ has been honored with the Spirit of Detroit award by the city council, who stated that he “is not only a staple in electronic music, but a staple in the City of Detroit.”
