Diplo’s produced some records that’ve really surprised me, most recently “Elastic Heart” with Sia & The Weeknd, and now I’ll be adding this remix of Grizzly Bear to that list. However, the most surprising remixes often prove to be the most interesting and appealing, this is true with Diplo’s cut of “Will Calls”. The record offers a chilled out indie trap structure that is restrained by no boundaries. Pitched slides, elegantly manufactured percussion stabs, and seemingly vocal edit based synth designs are pulled together and labor effortlessly with Diplo’s tight drum work.
