When I stumbled upon Joe Ghost‘s mashup of Blasterjaxx‘s ‘Koala’ and Lana Del Rey‘s ‘Young & Beautiful’ I was extremely skeptical. Blasterjaxx are a really exciting duo, their tracks have a lot of energy and a big room sound. But on the other hand Lana Del Rey’s type of music provides really emotional and incredibly beautiful vocals with a whispering back beat. Before pressing play I questioned how this mixture would work out.
Now that I’ve listened to his edit a few time I feel like overall it dosen’t make much sense to me, but somehow Joe Ghost makes it work. Once minute I’m singing along in my head, and just seconds later I’m fist pumping in my seat. Although the combination isn’t exactly seamless, it’s flawlessly executed and I applaud the creativity. In my opinion this is definitely worth a listen and a download.
