M42 step into the spotlight with “Gimme That Dirty,” a new single that fuses drum and bass tension with techno’s driving pulse. Out now via Purpose By Ak, the track comes from John Anthony DeJoria and Joey Francis (aka Bad Nonno), and it lands with intent: no buildup, no excess—just a direct line to the floor.
Working between Los Angeles and Austin, the duo have been steadily building a reputation for high-pressure sets and stripped-down sound design. The name M42 references the Orion Nebula—but don’t expect airy atmospheres. This is music with weight. “Gimme That Dirty” delivers sharp percussion, low-end grit, and vocals that feel more like a warning than a hook.
The duo have already made live impressions, from sharing the stage with DVBBS to playing rooftop sessions at SXSW alongside Spinnin’ and Kanary Records. There’s momentum behind them, but nothing about this feels rushed.
