In a world dominated by rhythm and repetition, Mersiv, or Anderson Benoit Gallegos, continues to stand apart. His latest offering, “I Like It When You Move,” shows off the electrifying leaps he is taking in the expansive universe of modern bass music, moving beyond his ‘Pretty Dark Loud’ trademark.
The imminent Out of Bounds album release on August 18th and the accompanying nationwide tour starting September 1st herald a new era for this prolific artist. The support line-up is equally tantalizing, boasting talents like Buku and Deadcrow, among others, indicative of Mersiv’s keen ear for collaborators.
Emerging from the nascent stages of The Mersiv Sound Project in 2015, Mersiv evolved as a flag-bearer of the Freeform EDM sub-genre. After leaving audiences spellbound at Electric Forest in 2018, his star only shone brighter. Noteworthy ventures with the WAKAAN label and a memorable evening at Red Rocks in April 2023 underline his trajectory to music’s zenith.
Pretty Dark Loud was more than a debut album; it was a manifesto. “Out of Bounds” looks set to be its sequel, with the latest single offering glimpses of Mersiv’s artistic evolution. This evolution isn’t just confined to bass. His work with MorFlo Records illustrates his dedication to nurturing and supporting like-minded artists.
With the Phase 2 of the Out of Bounds Tour on the horizon, Mersiv promises his fans a prolonged era of sonic innovation. Keep your eyes peeled and ears ready — this talent is on the way up and there’s no stopping him.
