Monki – Terry Francis Lights On Mix
Every week on BBC Radio 1, Monki helps you bring your weekend to a close.
The tagline of the show is “Extend your weekend”, but we here at RaverRafting think she does a great job of winding down the high of the weekend and setting you up for a great week. The radio show travels through a range of styles and shows you a great mix of new music and classic tunes. She also has a great sense of humor and is not afraid to lay it all out for some witty and sometimes self-deprecating banter.
She usually starts her show off with some high energy house and techno. You will hear a lot of new music and songs that are taking over clubs and festivals. The first hour and a half of this mix are just straight fire, big song after big song. Some of the highlights are songs from The Shapeshifters, Jamie xx, and Ilyus & Barrientos.
As an added bonus, Terry Francis shows up with a guest list celebrating the 18th anniversary of the opening of Fabric in London. His mix is filled with club classics that span the years that the club has ruled the English club scene.
Finally towards the end Monki winds down with her After Party Playlist. This is a time when the radio show mellows out and gives you that melodic, spacey, after club vibe. It inspires the kind of feeling you get when you’re at a friends house watching the sun come up. It’s a great ending to the show that makes you feel happy and relaxed.
