Club sounds, bass house, dubstep hybrids; these are just a few of these changes we’ve seen on the heavier side of dance music. Several of the artists you see below have dropped elements like this, or similar sounds that have our heads turning. 2016 is shaping up to be a unique story in the ultra-competitive world of dance music. Let’s listen in.
JOYRYDE – FUEL TANK
This was easily my favorite tune of the week. “FUEL TANK” has been everywhere and for good reason. Super epic symphonic samples and bass house collide in an unimaginably epic way – yet the funk verses and hip-hop vocals only makes the vibe more flabbergasting and impressive. A video paired with release is soon to be released.
Boombox Cartel – Dancing With Fire (ft. Stalking Gia)
You’d have to be living under a rock right now to not know Boombox Cartel is blowing up. “Dancing With Fire (ft. Stalking Gia)” is a quick follow up to their highly successful “It’s Strange” remix and recent Diplo & Friends guest mix. Boombox Cartel have crossed a line – before they were following and push the limits on dance trends, now they’re setting them.
Snavs – Into The Wild (Feat. Sebastian Lind)
Snavs is pretty new to the Monstercat family, but is making fast moves that help him stand out. His second Monstercat release ““Into The Wild” mixes a progressive-pop emotions with a smooth, monotone drop that’s heavy but fitting. If the name and art isn’t enough to get you intrigued, the song will. “Into The Wild” in the beginning of a long relationship.
Pegboard Nerds – Heartbit Ft. Tia Simone
Pegboard Nerds is really good at making tunes come alive, more so lately than ever. With over 129,000 plays in 2 days, “Heartbit Ft. Tia Simone” brings electro house and thick basslines together to form a thriller that is all it’s own. PBN can’t stop creating content. Between mobile games, massive remix EPs, originals and remixes, tours and festivals – Pegboard Nerds feel present and are easy to love.
Riot Ten – In The Trunk (feat. Armanni Reign)
Amp Live & Plivva – Full Throttle
Amp Live & Plivva keep “Full Throttle” simple while maintaining great energy. Heavy trap, dance vibes, well-placed vocal samples, and quick-changing percussion come together to form the perfect party track crowd to a deeper moment.
“In The Trunk” has a great theme to it through and through. Rough around the edges, the tune finishes Powerful Picks with rap lyrics and hard trap sounds from one of trap’s latest stars, Riot Ten. His music speaks for itself, tapping into the club-trap scene thats taking over the underground and parts of mainstream party culture.
