Fashioning taste is all in a days work for Matt FX Feldman. He’s best known for his work as Music Supervisor on the Comedy Central hit show Broad City, but now destined to make even more of a name for himself with his new project, Scooter Island. “Rooftop music,” as Matt has coined the style is a new blend of urban vibes meets smooth and tropical melodies that washes over you in the form of refreshing chill wave melodies.
So far the Scooter Island collective has involved over 20 vocalists, producers, and visual artists including Zoe Penina on “Breezy,” Sweaterbeats and Junglepussy on “#NOTYOURS,” and Synead on “Snap Out of It”, “Wavy,” and “We Could Smoke.” Each artist’s unique touch creates an unexpectedly sublime and cohesive sound. The vocals are smooth, the beats…charismatic, and the future for Scooter Island…bright.
Go ahead and transport yourself to a carefree, summer afternoon in the city with the debut, self-titled Scooter Island EP. Just because fall is creeping up doesn’t mean the rooftop vibes have to end.
Majority of the EP is available for streaming on Soundcloud, but if you’re in the NYC you might get lucky enough to catch Matt at one of the local spots his spins at regularly, Rinsed or LeBain. The album in it’s entirety will be available for download September 4.
