Scuba (Paul Rose) collaborates with London vocalist and producer DOMiNii on a seven-track project titled, ‘Diivorce.’ From playing a key role in the dubstep movement, to uniting the dub and techno scenes in Berlin with his influential SUB:STANCE residency at Berghain, Scuba’s always gone his own way and avoided musical pigeon holes. In ‘Diivorce’ the UK producer lets his creativity run untethered; guiding listeners on a musical journey through the lens of an 80’s vapor wave movie soundtrack.
But it’s not just the cover art that’s wavy. The album itself is a dreamy synth-pop paradise; the perfect combination of airy vocals, smooth guitar rifts, and punchy drum solos to become this summer’s next moody anthem. ‘Diivorce’ is the product of Scuba’s first collaboration with DOMiNii, a vocalist and producer who takes influence from the likes of Talking Heads, Wang Chung, David Newman, Arthur Russell, and The Blue Nile. Although he has performed backing vocals for Scuba’s ‘Forgive Me’, which initially came out last summer, ‘Diivorce’ marks DOMiNii’s first official release. The new single ‘Womb’ off the album was just added to Spotify’s Off Pop playlist alongside Chet Faker, Jessie Ware and Chemical Brothers as well.
Scuba + DOMiNii — ‘Diivorce’ is out 16 July on Hotflush Recordings!
