Released on Quality Good Records, France-raised artist known as Sebjin has dropped an expansive, multi-faceted Cliff EP that gives a superb introduction to what this artist is all about. His style is rooted in future beats, and packs a punch when it comes to the productions he proudly puts out. As featured in Cliff, he’s not afraid to push the limits of bass music in general and the styles he’s known for embracing.
Things start off with “Ring,” which is in collaboration with MARS88, mysterious and well-written, a dystopian feel is present throughout the flow of the song. “Lulu’s Bazaar,” takes the journey to new planes with an even more dark vibe going on. Various energy levels play a role in the unique moods that are built in all in one track. “‘Odeum,” provides a break of sorts with it’s experimental nature. This track is in collaboration with “High Klassified,” and expertly blends the style of the 2 where their talents get an even-keeled spotlight. “Excel,” then steals the stage, shifting the direction to one that is more theatrical and that of power. Ironically, a bit of jazz influence can be felt through the heaviness that is going on. “Tears,” closes things out with a reflective sensibility that makes it easy to think back on the past 4 tracks just heard. This component helps provide a collective arc within the EP delivering a “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts,” experience.
Sebjin is currently living and Montreal and has certainly been experiencing a bountiful amount of success in 2022. He’s a huge name in the future beats movement and beyond, often incorporating hip-hop elements into his work alongside fantasy-tinged sound designs to bring different mental imagery through the sound.
