Four years ago, SubDocta released an unofficial remix of Shlump’s “Hip Squeak.” Now, the two bass music talents are colliding on WAKAAN for their first collaborative single, “Cavern Dub.”
Preston Charles, aka SubDocta, has exploded onto every bass head’s radar since 2017 with his wildly successful single, “2009 Was Tight”. He’s been making friends with all the tastemakers, having continuous support from heavy hitters and labels including Excision, Bassnectar, Riot Ten, Borgores, Boogie T’s Drama Club Records, DirtMonkey’s 19K Records, and Insomniac’s Bassrush Records! He even dropped his debut EP named after his signature brand “West Coast Wobble” on Ganja White Night’s SubCarbon Records, which reached #1 on the Beatport Top 100 dubstep releases. SubDocta has also kept fans dancing at some of the best festivals across the country including Forbidden Kingdom, EverAfter, Dancefestopia, High Caliber, Freaky Deaky, Lost Lands, Valhalla, Big Dub, Lucidity, The Untz, Enchanted Forest, Infrasound, and SnowTa.
For his latest, he’s teamed up with yet another one of the fastest-growing bass acts, SHLUMP for their latest WAKAAN release, “Cavern Dub”. Originally debuting on WAKAAN in 2016, “Cavern Dub” marks Shlump’s return to WAKAAN in over a year since his 2019 UNIVERSAL WUB, a collaborative EP with LSDREAM. Meanwhile, recently making his WAKAAN debut in December 2020, SubDocta has only continued to impress with his Crystals & Kombucha EP this past May. It’s obvious why these two were destined to combine forces.
“Shlump and I have been friends for years. We met through the local Reno/Tahoe scene playing small festivals and whatnot. He’s a good homie, and once the pandemic hit, we were really able to put some time into a tune! I think it really showcases both of our styles and I’m excited for it to come out!”

“Cavern Dub” is what the aliens would be listening to at the beach on a Sunday with their homies. A wavy wonky wub release with hints of reggae wobbles and the hottest drips of dubstep, splashing all over Wakaan fans as they travel into the deepest depths of the bass chamber.
