Set to drop through Cyclops Recordings is the bass-bowing, five-track Wooked On Tronics EP from Subtronics, the Philadelphia-based dubstep craftsman who has been killing it on tour.
“Death Wish, the first on the EP, fires off with subtle beats and unique harmony movements just as the rhythm raises and vocal slashes get included. “Gyroscope” segue’s as the experimental follow up, then “Face Off” presents further intoxicating vocals and reverbing pulses of bass. “Failure Rate” misleads one into a feeling that all is well with the world with a twinkling introduction, laying the right foundation for its faltering drops and the epic closer coming up. Collaberator Moody Good teams up with Subtronics for the end of the EP, “MAD,” a dangerous end to the jolting collection of tracks.
Wooked on Tronics EP combines the components of strange beats and percussion with overwhelming dubstep, prying open an interesting space between metaphysical-ism and dark heavy bass.
