Tiesto Electric Zoo Photos
As the sun fell on the final day of Electric Zoo, the legendary Tiesto launched his set with ‘Chasing Summer’. It was the perfect opener and set the crowd into a frenzy. However, as the set continued with popular tracks like ‘Zero76′,’ Maximal Crazy’, and ‘We Own the Night,’ I wondered if I was watching a legend, or listening to a Spotify playlist. In spite of his extraordinary history of productions, Tiesto didn’t even touch the songs that built his empire. Instead, his set purely reflected today’s current, trendy sounds. There is no doubt that the Main Stage crowd would have appreciated a balance of new and old Tiesto, a recipe for what could have possibly been the best set of the weekend. These thoughts all come after reflecting on that Sunday evening.
Toward the end of his time-slot, I was especially pleased to hear ‘Take The Redline’ (Evan Baker ‘Central Line’ Edit), which had been featured previously on one of Tiesto’s Club Life radio shows. Evan Baker and Anthony Atkinson form the duo Baker & Atkinson, talented producers with an interesting story. Tiesto closed with ‘Maximal Crazy,’ an accurate description of the atmosphere at the time. It was ‘Maximal Crazy,’ but not quite maximal creative.
