The fourth annual Trillectro Festival is nearly upon us for its largest outing to-date! Each year since its inception, the end of summer event has become increasingly more popular in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.
With previous years featuring acts such as Flosstradamus, Carnage, Baauer, Schoolboy Q, A$AP Ferg, and Big Sean — Trillectro the premier one-day event that incorporates a perfect blend of hip-hop and dance music.
This year, the event moves to Merriweather Post Pavilion and casts a stellar lineup of Chance the Rapper, R.L. Grime, Cashmere Cat, Dom Kennedy, Kehlani, and more.
Is it your first time checking out artists on the lineup? You’re in luck, below we preview a few can’t miss acts.
One of this year’s most intriguing prospects is Baltimore native, Chris McClenney. Although he’s only been producing for about a year, his soulful, Disclosure-esque style of house music has already garnered hundreds of thousands of plays on his SoundCloud account.
Known for collaborating with the likes of Ariana Grande, Wiz Khalifa, and Ludacris — Cashmere Cat is the definition of a DJ who bridges the world of hip-hop and electronic dance music. The Norwegian DJ is timid in stature but he produces big time beats while on the decks.
Undoubtedly the headlining act of the event is none other than R.L. Grime. No longer just an artist trying to make a name for himself, the Los Angeles native catapulted himself into one of dance music’s most popular acts with the release of his 2014 album “Void”. Always incorporating hip-hop into his heavy hitting productions and sets, R.L. Grime is the perfect artist to help close out Trillectro 2015.
