For 15 years, Adam Beyer’s record label Truesoul has set the standard when it comes to club techno music. The label’s first ever Various Artists EP showcases four outstanding cuts, all of which have been tried and tested in Beyer’s sets in recent months. If you were at the daytime set at Sonus Festival in August, or have listened via episode DCR370, Truesoul fans would have already heard an unofficial preview of the release.
Belgian DJ Ramon Tapia kicks the EP with “Hexagon”, a track that starts off in an energetic way but then builds up to reach another level. Then Manchester duo OC & Verde partner with Italian Veerus for “Naaki”, which features a rousing vocal and went down a treat at Adam Beyer’s annual gig on the Amnesia Terrace for Cocoon in Ibiza. Another vocal track is seen in the third sound, “Take My Life” by Spaniard Marc Marzenit, that takes a more fizzy note but also one for the dancefloor. Moving down to the South of the UK, Ronnie Spiteri delivers “Sugar Lips”, a chunky hit and something for both house and techno fans.
