TyDi is easily the most underrated artist in electronic music, and I’ve been saying this since day one. He has released several outstanding albums and has most recently blown us away with his “ReDefined” release – the 21-track effort might be our favorite full-length of the year.
It encompasses passion, artistic integrity, unorthodox patterns and an overall quality that most 2014 releases are missing. On all fronts “ReDefined” is brilliant, it has touched on every heartwarming element of sound-writing and even the slew of features has continued blown me away.
With that being said, TyDi’s taste in music is one that I’ve grown very fond of. I saw he released a set for InTheMix that was based around records from 2008 and I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to dive into it. His selections include productions by Gabriel & Dresden, Max Graham and Nic Chagall, among others. His mix boasts nostalgic vibes and overall seems like a complete step to the left when compared to what electronic artists are releasing these days.
Needless to say it’s a breath of fresh air for dance music lovers. Now, even if you weren’t a fan of this style seven years ago you should still give this mix a peep. Also, near the end of the mix you’ll get a taste of the “ReDefined” with “Somebody For Me” featuring Cameron Forbes. If you’re a fan you can purchase the album below, it’s money well spent.
