The good summer vibes keep on coming. A new generation of chill DJs are upon us, Nora En Pure, Hotel Garuda, Porter Robinson, Flume, Odesza are just a few of the examples of how it’s being taken over by the soft side of electronic music. Here in Unwind The Mind we like to explore these types of sounds, but with a focus on up-and comers. Dive into a select handful we were enjoying this week.
moonboy inc. – POSTCARDS FROM THE MOON
moonboy inc. is to small to sound this good, “Postcards From The Moon” was partially inspired by a gift moonboy was given by his grandfather, a piano. This very song was recorded on it, which adds a deeper connection to the music all-around. The moon is a curious, interesting, uplifting thing to think about, “Postcards From The Moon” matches these vibes with some perfect complimentary vibes.
Pool Cosby – Little Do They Know
This is one of my favorite originals I’ve heard all week, Pool Cosby is a beautiful balance of electronic and natural instrumental sounds. “Little Do They Know” is relaxing, reflective, and contains an injection of folk that pulls everything together.
Para Doc – Tuesday Feels (feat. Victoria Black)
There’s nothing like a fresh tempo to give an original a new experience to the listener. “Tuesday Feels (feat. Victoria Black)” is more on the abstract side, featuring a spacious, yet satisfying drop on a very chill track. Para Doc have their own sound, after this one you’ll be craving to hear it expanded more so.
The Gifted – Purity (featuring Kossisko)
If Michael Jackson and house had a baby, it would most likely sound like this. “Purity (featuring Kossisko)” keeps the falsetto pop vibe strong while introducing a substantial background production that fully compliments the vocal – at times the vocal and beat sort of become one, which adds that extra element of surprise to this single. The Gifted is on to something.
DUX – Flower f. Stan Carrizosa
DUX’s Remote-Controlled Hobbies album is an eclectic blend of several chill sounds, some which almost completely leave the realm of electronic music, but regardless electronic music fans will love what they’re making here across the board. DUX’s music has spirit and passion, which can be instantly felt. “Flower f. Stan Carrizosa” was my favorites, but the EP is not to be missed by chill music lovers.
