Even though it’s the holiday’s, there has been no chill when it comes to availability of great releases. From the super chill and ambient to poppy future bass. We got a splash of everything in this week’s Unwind The Mind.
Allen French – 7AM (feat. Amie Miriello)
“7AM (feat. Amie Miriello)” reminds me of those few nights (or not so few for some,) that you have such a good time you get to watch the sun come up. The track, a single off of Allen French’s Novo Mundo EP, captures this vibe via retro sustained synths, heart-wrenching vocals, and a classic house beat to sooth the soul. This is the first time I’ve listened to Allen French, but it certainly won’t be the last.
white cliffs – Twiddle
One reason you may have been seeing white cliffs around is because he is represented by one of the big agencies, CAA, for good reason too. Jazz/r&B, trap, and soulful drops make up the core of what this artist does, especially in “Twiddle”. Not many artists can tell a story without lyrics, but white cliffs’ is one of those talents that accomplishes this and then some.
Brando – Bad Man
Brando is another artist that was new to me, but taps into a vibe I’m favoring. Imo future bass and hip-hop are going to explode in 2017. That’s precisely what Brando is doing with his latest release “Bad Man” Super sexy, super chill vibes surround his eary candy voice to form something unique before the style has been saturated. Nice one.
San Holo – Light
San Holo has unleashed one of the top dance hits of the month. Grabbing the viral charts in over a dozen countries, topping #1 on SoundCloud’s “new and hot” and “top 50” under electronic. San Holo proves he can maintain relevance in the industry scene and the commercial dance music’s scene – sort of entering this arena where “he can do no wrong”. A hard feat to achieve, but he’s done it and continues to grow.
elkkle – Soft Erasure
Damn, talk about chill vibes. elkkle takes it down a notch with the new single “Soft Erasure”. Out of all the track’s on Unwind The Mind, this one certainly convey’s the most distinct and unique vibe above all others. elkkle leaves us with this message: “Lyrically it’s definitely all heartbreak. But for me, to sum it up, it’s like getting drunk and bringing a bull into your own china shop. Then you wake up in the morning and all you can really do is say to yourself ‘don’t be mad at the bull, don’t be mad at yourself, just work out how to clean this up and move on’.”
Element & Tempest – Spells
Element has been on a roll lately with HypeM charting songs and sustained blog support. This time Element has teamed up with Tempest for”Spells”. A single that’s a bit more anthemic in nature than Element’s other release. Yet, per usual, he hits home with the drop. This single definitely combines the best of both Element and Tempest.
