Last Friday the Wakaan family invaded Webster Hall for a special edition of Girls + Boys. Countless ravers from all around, including from halfway across the country, piled into the multi-floored venue for a night that will not soon be forgotten.
Each DJ brought their own energy and their own way of controlling the crowd. One standout artist was Esseks, who threw down a set that found the perfect balance between heavy music and melodic atmospheres, all while maintaining an insanely active stage presence.
Space Jesus played right after, but it was when the big boss Liquid Stranger came out that things really went down. He threw down some of his biggests hits and dirtiest secrets for a while, and then invited his label-mates on stage for a massive b2b2b2b that rattled the very bones of the building for a full half hour past the venue’s closing.
Bass lovers rejoiced having soaked in hours of tunes from some of bass music’s most forward thinking pioneers. As for Wakaan, they packed up their things and returned to their spaceship, preparing to soon unleash their madness on another part of the country.
