Gravitas Recordings returns after a near 4 year hiatus from their series, Virtus in Sonus to revive its founding mission: bring emerging artists and established Gravitas artists together in a diverse, yet cohesive musical release. True to its name, Virtus in Sonus V strives to express integrity and meaning through a compilation of eclectic selections that range anywhere from meditative to energetic electronic music.
Known for infusing live wind and brass instruments with original samples, The Dou Willdabeast goes loud into their latest track with Gravitas. Willdabeast is the concept of multi-instrumentalist Will Glazier and recording artist Michal Menert, and was even cited as the “Potential Future of EDM” by the noteworthy Westwood blog!
The track starts off with a midi piano slamming its chords in a very clear way. Then switches over to the live brass, vocal chops, bass, and drums. The track is clearly meant to be a live experience. The track seems to be an attempt to combat the feelings of Meh more than an embracing of that feeling. “Why feel ‘Meh, when you can feel awesome?” It’s daring us in this way to combat our digital isolation.

They have also supplied us with an interesting music video that really goes into detail the process in which they create. It’s especially interesting given current circumstances we see ourselves in. It shows how artists are adapting and continue to create in the face of adversity.
