Japan’s electronic music stage has grown louder and larger—and Yuuki Yoshiyama is at the center of it. From arena festivals to underground club nights, he’s played a major role in shaping the country’s dance culture and expanding its reach worldwide. As the founder of Toolroom Tokyo and the Executive Producer behind GMO SONIC, Yuuki has helped bring global names like Skrillex, Anyma, and Peggy Gou to Japanese audiences while also championing homegrown sounds.
His latest release “Rise Up” on Toolroom Records taps into his tech house roots and reflects the same high-caliber energy found at the events he curates. His UDVD and JIWAJIWA party series continue to draw crowds in Tokyo, while a forthcoming label expansion across Asia signals bigger plans on the horizon. Tracks like “Trickster” and “Tiger Beetle” have found support across international platforms, and Toolroom’s next release featuring his work is due later this year.
Behind the scenes, Yuuki leads creative direction at W Osaka, programming music and cultural events across music, fashion, art, and hospitality. He also works as a consultant and executive advisor across dozens of businesses, shaping ideas far beyond the DJ booth.
His résumé stretches back to 1996 when he began performing as a DJ. Since then, he’s played in over 15 countries, supported more than 50 DJ Mag Top 100 artists, and performed twice at EDC Las Vegas—becoming the only Japanese artist to do so. Yuuki’s contributions extend from club culture to high-level event production, making him a key figure in connecting Japan’s EDM scene to the rest of the world.
