tyDi is switching it up with his career path and getting orchestral with it on his new single “Did You Know”. Tyson Illingworth has been one of the fastest and youngest growing artists in the trance scene since the young age of 16, entering any contest he could find and winning his first award shortly after. Just a year later, the one Australian native had made enough waves to catch the attention of trance god Armin van Buuren and was signed to his Armada label. You may recognize the name from being in the top 100 DJ’s of DJ Mag’s list from ’08-’12 as well as his biggest tracks like chart topper “Redefined” and “Wanna Lose You” which has garnered over two million plays on Spotify. Now 15 years in, he’s been creating incredible albums on a yearly basis and experimenting with genres along the way.
After all of this success, Illingworth is now diving into other musical world’s and has partnered with one of best in orchestra composition, Christopher Tin. You may recognize his style from his past works such as: X-Men 2: X-Men United, Sausage Party, Dead Space: Aftermath, and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny. The two first partnered up for their first single, “Closing In” which has a more upbeat feel to it. “Did You Know” starts off gentle, a smooth building between all the instruments from Tin before he creates a flush, philharmonic sound. Then tyDi comes in with his trance flavor and the two start to mix their styles together. There is an interweaving between the genres, with one giving space to the other while still maintaining an intricate dance. We wouldn’t expect anything less than masterful from these well accomplished artists and we can’t wait to see what Illingworth does next with this new territory.
“Did You Know” is now available on Spotify and Souncloud. Check out the behind the scenes of creating the track in the video below.
