We are 45 days away from one of the biggest end of the summer parties on the planet: Electric Zoo. For the past 6 years Electric Zoo has taken place on Randall’s Island Park every Labor Day weekend. Despite a rocky past, the festival looks to come back in full force this year with a diverse lineup and new creative direction. If you haven’t purchased your tickets for this incredible festival, here is 10 reasons to convince you that this festival is worth your hard-earned savings.
1. New York City
It truly is the city that never sleeps! Besides attending the festival on the beautiful Randall’s Island grounds, NYC offers many different nightlife options to cater to any electronic dance music fans’ needs. Plus EZOO is known for throwing some insane after parties each night after the festival.
2. New Direction
This year Electric Zoo has partnered with ID&T (forces behind Tomorrowworld and Mysteryland USA) and has dubbed this year’s festival Electric Zoo: Transformed. New stage designs and concepts have emerged already and we can bet to see many positive changes this year.
3. Awakenings
Techno fans rejoice as the prized Dutch Festival brand hits North America for the very first time. This will surely have a huge impact on the festival bringing major underground acts such as Adam Beyer, Get Real and The Martinez Brothers.
4. The Chemical Brothers
One of electronic dance music’s most prized possessions, the Chemical Brothers, will return to Randall’s Island for the first time since 2010! With the release of their new album Born in Echoes, we can expect a huge performance combining new songs and our old favorites.
5. Thomas Jack Stage
You may be living under a rock if you haven’t heard of Tropical House. And this year Electric Zoo is capitalizing on the latest craze and having a stage hosted by Tropical House Pioneer Thomas Jack. This stage will be home to many soothing and deep sounds from the likes of Thomas Jack, Robin Schulz, and Sam Feldt.
6. Live Performances in full effect
Sometimes it’s nice to get away from the typical DJ and experience a new kind of performance. This year EZOO will be offering such live acts as Griz, RAC, and Keys N Krates. These acts will add some diversity and give you a new experience, so make sure to make time for some live music in your schedules.
7. Special Guests: The Glitch Mob
Bass music fans are in for the ultimate treat as this year the trio known as The Glitch Mob will be gracing the Hilltop Arena this Labor Day Weekend. The Mob is unlike anything else you will ever see, they bring a live show that can not be duplicated by any other act. With the release of their new album this year we can see their Electric Zoo performance being a highlight of the weekend.
8. The Food
For anyone who has ever attended New York’s premiere dance music festival, you can easily recall the wide variety of food options the event has to offer. Many local cuisines are offered and their is a delicious snack available for everyone to help keep you energized throughout the day.

9. Belt “Heroes” at the top of your lungs as Alesso closes the festival
This year the Swedish superstar Alesso is slated to close out the festival on Sunday. After an unfortunate cancellation last year, Alesso’s main stage performance was cancelled. So we can be assured that one of the top players in the electronic music game is going to leave us with an unforgettable performance this year.
10. The 3rd times the charm!
Unfortunately we have had to see Electric Zoo cut short the past two years due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control. Well the old saying goes, “The third time’s the charm.” We can assume that this year the Electric Zoo team is going to put forward all possible effort to make sure this festival is the best they have ever put on. They always put safety as a number one priority by having tons of medical staff, security and free water. This year looks like it’s truly going to be one for the ages with a diverse lineup and new pattern of creative thinking.
