With Camp Bisco just a day away I know many of you have made long lists of items that you need to pack. As of now you may be done packing, or like me, you might of not started just yet. Regardless, to me the ten items below are essential for having a pleasant Camp experience. Aside from obvious things like a tent, sleeping bag, pillow, and your friends, there may be something you’re forgetting. This list below may spark your memory or give you some more ideas.
Cases Of Water + Camel Back
Cases of water are essential for any camping experience. But being that this is a festival and you’ll be dancing for three days straight, staying hydrated is extremely important. If you’re traveling with four to five people I recommend bringing at a minimum a case a person (if it fits in your car). The more water you bring the more money you’ll save. Also, don’t forget your camelbak! No one wants to hold a water bottle all day long.
Nutrition Bars + Additional Food
If you’re looking to save money, or just simply help yourself through the day, nutrition bars are key. Bisco will have all kinds of food but you should definitely bring some snacks.
Towel
Everyone I talk to always forgets that Camp Bisco has a showering area. I don’t know about you, but one shower after a day of sweating and breathing in dust is game changing for me. I have friends that can go all three days without rinsing off and I just don’t understand how. If you’re like me you definitely don’t want to forget a towel, I may even bring two.
Walkie Talkies
I’ve never actually brought walkie talkies to any camping festival, but I’ve seen people using them. I think it’s a really great idea, especially if you and your friends split up in to small groups throughout the day. As many of you already know, there will most likely be little to no service at the Indian Lookout Country Club. If you lose your friends you’re in for a challenge. At the least make sure you set up a meeting place and designate times to re-gather throughout the day, never rage alone!
Bug Spray
We’re going to be in the middle of a field surrounded by woods. Bug bites are not fun… don’t forget your “off” spray.
Lawn Chair
For three days your small camp area is going to be home, bring some furniture. You could always sit and rest in your car, but half of the Bisco experience is relaxing with your neighbors. Last year I made a lot of festival friends by just hanging around my tent and chairs.
Flash Light
It’s dark at night. Bring a flashlight.
Cooler
For the first day of any camping festival I bring cold cuts in a cooler. After they quickly disappear I use the cooler to keep my alcohol and water cold and refreshing. There will be beer and ice for sale by vendors.
Hand Sanitizer/Wipes
Earlier I mentioned dust. There is always a lot of dirt and dust at Bisco. If you’re the type of person who thinks they can get away with out showering, at least bring some sanitizer wipes to clean yourself up each day.
A Full Tank Of Gas
This is easily the most important “thing” on my list. If you haven’t learned this the hard way you’re very lucky. Getting a full tank of gas is absolutely essential. It’s going to be hot, you’re going to sweat, and eventually you’ll want to cool off. You’re car is the perfect place to regenerate your energy, but with out gas your air conditioning is going to fail you miserably.
Pro-tip: Always turn your engine on when using your car air conditioning or to charge your phone – which will probably have no service, anyway. You don’t want to get stranded with a dead car battery.
