Fourth of July weekend is right around the corner and that means Riverwest Music Festival’s inaugural event is creeping up on us as well. Riverwest will be taking over Chicago’s River North Branch July 4th – 6th and while many of us are busy planning the perfect outfit… it’s time to start figuring out who you NEED to see over the weekend.
With a large selection of the worlds finest electronic artists to choose from, we will help you decide the “can’t miss” acts. So get your headphones ready and prepare to groove as we uncover who you should be most excited to see at Riverwest Music Festival!
Vaski
Vaski is more than just music, he is an experience. This Minnesota native knows how to throw down on stage and he’s never afraid to hold back. Alex Brouwer’s knack for infusing electro elements into dubstep has created a hybrid sound making a household name. I hope Riverwest curators know that they’ll have to scrape some people up off the ground after this set cause those earth-shattering wobbles can make anyone weak at the knees.

Deep Dish
Composed of house music producers Sharam Tayebi and Ali ‘Dubfire’ Shirazinia, Deep Dish are no strangers to the electronic music scene. With one Grammy and 14 years of experience under their belts, music lovers receive nothing less than perfection every time they see this duo perform. 2006 was a rough year for fans when Deep Dish moved into hiatus as each artist focused on their solo careers, but now that they’re back and it’s time to get lost in those epic house beats again. Note: You can also catch their solo acts, Dubfire and Sharam.

Hot Since 82
Become “knee deep” in deep house beats with Daley Padley’s underground sound as Hot Since 82. Padley has produced numerous Beatport top-charters and shows no sign of slowing down. Ever since “Let It Ride” was released in 2011, Hot Since 82 has become a household name in Europe and is quickly starting to dominate North America. His sound is progressive and far from the generic style being produced in modern mainstream music. Riverwest, it’s time to show Padley we can go a lot deeper than Coachella.

Excision
Excision is the one set where you may arrive beautiful but there’s a 99% chance you’ll leave ugly. Jeff Abel describes himself as part man, robot, and dinosaur. Though, we like to simply call him a dubstep mastermind. Every show packs at least 150,000 watts of bass and that is enough to knock you on your ass, a few times. Abel’s best quality is that he doesn’t hide behind the brutally loud sounds. His quality of mixing and song selection is superb and worth the head-banging headache that you may run into.

Adrian Lux
When your music is remixed and showcased by several prominent DJs, I believe that earns you bragging rights. Adrian Lux has been tearing up the scene since he first started producing in 2010. His most famous song, “Teenage Crime,” has been our anthem since the very beginning. This Swedish electro-house DJ is the son of two musicians and it’s clear that musical creativity runs through his blood. We’re putting all of our money on Adrian Lux because we’re certain he won’t disappoint.

Lauren Lane
Let’s give it up for this electric lady, Lauren Lane. Lane has received support from coveted DJs such as Seth Troxler, Carl Cox, Jamie Jones, and the Martinez Brothers, among many more. But, it’s not because of her flawless looks, it’ because of her flawless talent. Fans can catch Lane in her atmosphere at Sound Nightclub in Hollywood but we’re excited to see her kill Chicago’s airwaves.

DJ Tennis
Getting lost in some deep-techno house with DJ Tennis should be on your agenda. Although Manfredi Romano insists his primary focus is being a promoter and booking agent, his talent as DJ Tennis is so undeniable. Manfredi is a founder and developer for some of the most important Italian underground musical events such as Elita Festival in Milan and the Dissonanze in Rome. His psychedelic, dark sounds will definitely set the mood in Chicago.

Damian Lazarus
Damian Lazarus has a crazy creative mind and his music displays it perfectly. Lazarus’ mission has always been to blow away the mediocre and the obsolete and pave way for the rebels. This vivid imagination takes his music to an experimental level. We admire his use of acid house and new wave sounds. Things will really get funky at Riverwest when you see Lazarus. Calling all rebels.

Morgan Page
Morgan Page has been making music since the young age of 12 and his raw talent and passion stuns us. His versatility and devotion to innovation has kept him at the forefront of electronic music. The Riverwest ravers better brush up on Page’s beautiful lyrics because we expect everyone to be singing along to his impressible catalogue. Though, we’re not sure what Page will play. He’s always full of surprises.

Benoit & Sergio
We are living in a post-LCD sound system world but Benoit & Sergio are here to provide some warm and sensuous electronic pop music. Benjamin ‘Sergio’ Myers and Benoit Simon rock a “New Order”- ish electronic sound. They maintain a happy upbeat while the lyrics tell a different story, overall, we’re excited to see what these colorful characters bring to the table.

Rusko
Rusko has been around ever since the U.K. dubstep movement originated. His single, “Cockney Thug,” catapulted his career into overdrive and onto some of the largest stages in the world. Fans can expect some bouncy bass music alongside his more traditional sounds. He knows how to keep things “happy and heavy” and this lineup wouldn’t be complete without him.

Guy Gerber
Guy Gerber ranks #4 on Resident Advisors “Top 20 Live Acts of 2013” which makes him one of the most highly anticipated acts of Riverwest Music Festival. In 2013, Guy Gerber presented “Wisdom Of The Glove” every Wednesday at Pacha in Ibiza. The lavish party featured puppeteers, magicians, fortune-telling machines and $150,000 glove. His use of harmony, meditative mood, and psychedelic sounds are something everyone needs to experience at least once.
