This isn’t exactly electronic dance music related, however, I was so stunned by it that I couldn’t help but share it with the WhiteRaverRafting community. I don’t hear 13 year old’s absolutely slay covering records from the 1960’s on a regular basis… so this video came as a shocking surprise.
I don’t watch the X-Factor, but thanks to Facebook I just came across this recording of a young contestant’s beautiful performance of Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good”. Her vocal range, soul and stage confidence blows me away. As a music lover I can’t help but get goosebumps every single time I watch this. Knowing that talent like this exists makes me extremely exited for the future of music. If you haven’t seen it I highly suggest you give it a shot.
History: “Feeling Good” was written by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse for the musical “The Roar of the Greasepaint – The Smell of the Crowd” back in 1964. Not long after that Nina Simone, a legendary vocalist that has been remixed by Pretty Lights & Bassnectar, performed it and re-recorded it for her album, “I Put a Spell on You” – which was released in 1965.
