On the eve of Ultra Music Festival, last Thursday March 27th, Miami hosted the 29th Annual International Dance Music Awards, a highlight of the Winter Music Conference. The IDMA’s receive over two million votes from over 209 countries and recognize and award electronic music artists in over 57 categories, combining both industry legends and emerging talent alike. Award categories go out to all parts of the electronic industry, including the artists, tracks, labels, clubs, promotors, media, and technology.
Hardwell, unsurprisingly, took home a few awards. He won both Best Progressive House/Electro DJ and Best Global DJ.
This year’s IDMA’s saw Armin Van Buuren and Armada Music bring home 10 awards, Pioneer absolutely dominating the tech industry, and a few Top 40 and Grammy winning artists also getting some love from the IDMA’s voters.
