I know I’m not the only one that plays this game. It’s 12:30 AM, you have work you should be doing, but browsing Soundcloud sounds like a much better option. It’s always satisfying finding artists on the come-up; it allows you to fully appreciate their progression as their career develops. Through my “research” I’ve found a few rising artists that surprised me with their follower count. All of these producers have less than 10K followers but are putting out music that’s on par with the superstars of today.
1. Craz
This producer is probably most famous for the song “Thursty”, his collaboration with the king himself on Bassnectar’s NVSB album. Craz always manages to create unique bass sounds dripping in grime. While I would like to classify him under the Drumstep/Drum n’ Bass genre, Craz’s range of styles span much more than that. His remix of “Jenga” by Big Makk has a distinct hip-hop feel, reminiscent of Bassnectar pre-2007. Give the song a listen below and if you like it, it’s available for free download.
2. WAVEDASH
A producer trio out of Texas, WAVEDASH impressed me with their song composition and hard-hitting melodies. Their remix to Valentino Khan’s “Deep Down Low” first caught my attention, showcasing their ability to cause involuntary bass face. After scrolling through their Soundcloud its clear these guys have major potential to make literal noise in the bass music game this year. WAVEDASH’s latest release on OWSLA is by far one of my favorites. “Bang” has ridiculous sound design that gets better as the song goes on. Give it a listen and check them out.
3. MadVamp
MadVamp is one of the best up and coming producers in the newly popular “Bass House” genre. Brought into the mainstream through the likes of Jauz and Ephwurd, this dubstep/deep house combo genre has been making its way into live sets recently. MadVamp has perfected his own Bass House sound that is unique yet fits right into a mix. His remix of Jauz’s hit “Feel the Volume” is perfect for those that prefer their house a little heavier. We expect great things from MadVamp this year so be on the lookout for some big tracks.
4. Kompany
When you first hear a Kompany track, you know it’s only a matter of time until this guy makes it. His range of sound design is impressive. Certain tracks like “Pulsar” off of his Jackknife EP sound as if they were coming from big name artists like Snails. The track posted below, “Rip It” has to have one of the craziest leads I’ve heard in a while. The best thing about Kompany is that all his music is like that: constantly surprising you with what is possible from a synth. Many of his tracks are available for free download which makes it that much easier to load up your library with filthy bass.
5. Bleu Clair
All the way from Indonesia hails Bleu Clair. This producer has an ear for melodies that make you want to dance. His tracks are on par with some of the bigger names in the festival circuit today and have seen support from artists like Bro Safari, Ephwurd, and Tommy Trash. While mainly producing Bass House, Bleu Clair is able to translate his skills to the trap game as evidenced in his recent release “Prodigy”. This track has a heavy lead with an incredible double time section that will leave you disoriented. The versatility shown in this song has me excited to see where Bleu Clair will take his music next.
