Billboard 100 Music Festival will return to Jones Beach Theater for its second year. It’s inaugural year in 2015 saw some of the best hip-hop and electronic acts out there and Billboard has not disappointed this year. With acts like Calvin Harris, Ariana Grande, Martin Garrix, and J Cole; this year’s Billboard 100 is one you won’t want to miss. Featuring multiple stages with the main stage being in the theatre; Billboard 100 Music Festival has solidified itself as a premiere music festival in the NYC area. Just weeks before the notorious Electric Zoo on Randall’s Island, Billboard will have a lot to show in its two days on August 20th and 21st. If you haven’t purchased tickets to Billboard 100 yet they can be found here.
Although Billboard has undoubtedly attracted some of the biggest names in the music industry, there are also some smaller names that deserve as much attention as the headliners that will close out the night. RaverRafting will be looking at some of our favorite electronic acts performing at the music festival. With an array of trap, house, and dubstep, Billboard has gone above and beyond with its diverse selection of genres. Without further ado, these are RaverRafting’s must see acts at Billboard Hot 100 Music Festival!
Marshmello
Generating more buzz than any artist so far, a lot of mystery has surrounded the ever elusive Marshmello. With conflicting reports about who the man behind the mask is, Marshmello has been the talk of 2016. Although rumor has it Dotcom is the legend behind the funky trap beats, that hasn’t stopped people from speculating all across the electronic industry. Having his own mello gang to accompany his signature sound, Marshmello’s performances have been some of the most highly anticipated at festivals around the country. His well known remix of Adelle’s “Hello” is one of the best out there and caters to the Marshmello sound we all love. Marshmello will perform day two of Billboard, be sure to check him out!
Gryffin
He’s been growing up around music for his whole life and started producing electronic music when he was in college. Since then, Gryffin has been producing bangers and performing at locations all across the country. Never settling down on one specific genre is what makes Gryffin’s music ever so amazing. Catering to both his musical drives and the the tastes of his fans is what separates Gryffin from your average artist. His melodic/soul house is the perfect feel good music to sit back and relax to. With several songs accumulating millions of plays on Soundcloud, Gryffin is not a performance you’ll want to miss. He’ll perform the first day of Billboard.
Galantis
Galantis is the swedish duo composed of Christian Karlsson (Miike Snow) and Linus Eklow. The superstar duo rose to fame in 2013 after the hit track Runaway (U&I) took off. The song became one of the most well known festival songs and is still played at festivals today. After that the duo continued to conquer the house scene with releases like “In My Head” and “You”. Just when we thought Galantis was all spent up, they released their first official song of 2016, “No Money” that generated over 17 million plays on Soundcloud. They’ve solidified themselves a premiere house producers and will be performing the second day of Billboard 100.
Audien
Young Nate Rathburn aka Audien has been producing music since as early as 2009. Being just 18 years old at the time, the teen caught the attention of Ferry Corsten’s label and his first official release “Rise & Shine” was released on Flashover Recordings. Known for his progressive remixes and unreal mashups, Audien has been booked at festivals all across the world for sometime now. Although young, he has proven time and time again that he’s an experienced producer that delivers quality music. His single featuring Michael S, “Leaving You” is known as one of his best progressive tracks and will go down as one of the greats. His live sets feature some of his best mashups like “Sun & Wayfarer”. Audien will be performing on day two of Billboard, be sure to check his set out!
Thomas Jack
Known for his chilled out tropical house, Thomas Jack has been producing tropical music before Kygo came into the scene. Although he produces mainly tropical house, Thomas Jack doesn’t see himself as a tropical house producer. His live sets are much more than that and go way past just your average tropical house. Genres don’t define Thomas Jack or his music and I guarantee you his live sets go far beyond your average “Kygo music”. You’ll often see him on stage messing around with his signature pineapple. If you’re looking to experience something more than tropical house, consider seeing Thomas Jack on day one of Billboard.
