In a few short days, Sunset Music Festival will hold its third annual event at the North Lot of the Raymond James stadium in Tampa, Florida. Organized by Disco Donnie Presents, Sunset Events, and Committee Events, Sunset is incorporating a ton of new extras this year which will not only streamline the festival but also satisfy many attendees’ requests. Check out our five picks for best new aspects below:
More Water Stations
Florida’s summer are known for their blistering, humid heat. Last year, Sunset followed the trend of including a water station that was intended to quench the dire thirsts of every attendee. However, the use of only one station lead to long lines and confusing crowds. This year will implement at least four water stations, making sure everyone is properly hydrated before dancing under the Florida sun.
Cooling Stations and a Cool Down Maze
Speaking of the Florida sun, staying properly hydrated won’t be the sole way attendees will endure the high temperatures. Luckily Sunset has implemented a bevy of cooling stations and even a cooling maze to give everyone extra energy to dance to the energetic sets.
The cooling maze, located near the Sunset Stage, will be inside a completely enclosed tent and will have multiple A/C units blasting cold air on festival-goers.
The other cooling stations will mist cool water onto patrons near the Sunrise and Sunshine stages.
Artist Meet & Greet
Ever want to meet some of your favorite DJs and producers? Only lucky attendees usually get the chance by riding the rails in front of stages or waiting hours by a tour bus. This year’s festival will give everyone the chance to meet some of their favorite artists, including the likes of Aly & Fila and Borgore. Make sure to get an autograph, take lots of pictures, and indulge in those short few minutes at the Live SMF tent.

Planet SMF
Sunset is partnering with the Electronic Music Alliance and IDEAS (a Florida group devoted to teaching sustainability) to bring a very unique and educational aspect to the festival. Equipped with solar phone chargers, art, and demonstrations, Planet SMF will teach attendees how to adopt sustainable practices through engaging activities (such as solar phone chargers and a bike that transposes art onto vinyl records).
EDMX Festival Guide Phone App
While generally only national festivals develop phone apps for their festivals, Sunset’s expansion and growth has allowed it to partner with EDMX to create a personalized app to remain up-to-date with all various happenings. The app includes a map, photos, playlists, artist schedules, and more so those with spotty service can access festival information. The app is currently available on all iOS devices.
