Over the past few years, Black Butter Records has become synonymous with outstanding dance music. Whether its their events or consistent, top-quality releases, they know how to do it proper, and it’s undeniable that people have been taking notice. As an imprint under Sony, it seems like Black Butter has been able to remain relatively independent, but this independence is backed with the power of a major label, which has resulted in a crossover presence that few label’s have the honor of boasting. If you’re a bit skeptical about that statement, just take one quick look at their roster and you’ll see what I mean. Rudimental, Clean Bandit, and Gorgon City are just a few of Black Butter’s flag-bearers, and the label is continuing to harbor rising talent that deserves attention.
This coming Monday, Black Butter will be taking over Populux in Detroit for a massive, official Movement afterparty featuring a couple of their own, Gorgon City and Kidnap Kid, as well as special guests MK B2B Lee Foss, Dantiez Saunderson, and more. In celebration of the epic night that’s steadily approaching, we’ve put together 5 reasons why you should attend the show.
- Gorgon City will be making their Detroit debut
One of the fastest rising house acts in recent times will be descending upon Motor City for the very first time, and this is particularly significant, knowing Detroit’s history of techno. Gorgon City is sure to pull all the stops to blow away well-educated underground fan base, especially after a run in the U.S. that included an appearance at Coachella.
- Black Butter Records is known for epic parties
Not only is Black Butter known for its outstanding releases and artist roster, but it’s also known for it’s epic parties. It’s already established a strong presence with events in the UK, and it’s only a matter of time until they fully infiltrate the US, so this is an excellent opportunity to be one of the early adopters and experience the growing Black Butter movement first-hand.
- The rare B2B set from MK & Lee Foss
It’s not too often where the legendary hit-machine, MK, goes B2B with one of Chicago’s finest, Lee Foss. They’re both known to throw down for their solo sets, but with the combination of these two underground luminaries, Populux is expected to become a bit of a frenzy come their set time.
- Top to bottom world-class talent
From top to bottom, the lineup is stacked with world-class talent. Gorgon City, Kidnap Kid, and MK B2B Lee Foss need no introduction, but Dantiez Saunderson, son of techno figurehead Kevin Saunderson, burgeoning house specialist, Loud Luxury, and Detroit’s own ADMN are sure to get the night warmed up with on-point sets for a full night of world-class dance music.
- It’s the best place to keep the party going after a wild weekend at Movement
If the three-day Movement festival affair wasn’t enough, there is no doubt that this Black Butter afterparty will be the place to be if you want to keep the good times rollin’. Even Movement itself has given a co-sign to this event, so you know it’s one you should not miss.
