In less than a month, Electric Paradise will makes its triumphant return to the shores of the Dominican Republic for an unforgettable night of music and art. The festival, which is still in its nascency, has already captured the hearts of the Caribbean with its impressive blend of music, art, design, food, and technology, claiming the title as the region’s biggest electronic festival in its first year.
For its second running, Electric Paradise is pulling out all the stops as it looks to turn Cape Cana into a true land of paradise. The PAV Events-produced festival has already unveiled the complete lineup, which features over twenty world-class artists, like Skrillex, Major Lazer, Diplo, Porter Robinson, and more, spread across three stages.
Whether you’re looking for a stop-gap event during festival season’s annual lull or the perfect holiday trip, here are our five reasons why Electric Paradise is the can’t-miss festival of December. Tickets to Electric Paradise are still available for purchase on the website here.
Venue
Going to a festival in December is rare, and going to a festival in December at one of the most breath-taking venues in the world, but Electric Paradise delivers on these two counts and more. Electric Paradise calls the Dominican Republic its home, but the festival takes place on one of the most gorgeous beaches in Punta Cana, Cap Cana, at a venue filled with luscious green grass and bright blue skies.
Skrillex, Diplo, and Major Lazer
The OWSLA boss and Mad Decent head honcho were not just two of the biggest artists in dance music this year, but two of the biggest artists in the music industry period. Their collaborative project, Jack U, dominated the radio airwaves and festival lineups, while Diplo’s Major Lazer project created some serious mainstream buzz with their Peace is the Mission album.
Stage 3
One of the most surprising elements, but biggest selling points, of Electric Paradise is its dedication to the underground. Few mainstream festivals have placed as big an emphasis on house and techno like Electric Paradise has, and it shows with a lineup featuring heavyweights like Nicolas Jaar and Guy Gerber and established stars like Hot Since 82 and Magdalena. If you need a break from the untz of the main stage, Stage 3 will be your safe haven.
The Weather
The average high temperature of the Dominican Republic in December is 75 degrees Fahrenheit, while the average low is 72 degrees. To put that into perspective, Snowglobe Music Festival, which takes place in Lake Tahoe, averages highs of 42 degrees and lows of 14 degrees in December. We’ll take wearing board shorts to a festival on the beach over below-freezing temperatures any day of the week.
An All-Around Thrilling Festival Experience
While Electric Paradise has all of the chops to consider itself peers with premier festivals like Electric Zoo and Ultra Music Festival, what sets it apart from a typical festival is the all-around experience that Electric Paradise strives to create. While the music is definitely what matters the most, Electric Paradise is rounded out nicely with a number of daring activities for those looking for a little excitement in their lives.
