Above & Beyond have the capability to move their crowds and fully engulf them in the music and the experience. Tony, Paavo, and Jono have been performing as Above & Beyond for well over ten years and their live shows are filled with amazing moments that will leave you with memories long after the show is over. Meeting great people, listening to awesome music, it all comes in the package when you decide to purchase that ticket. If you haven’t seen Above & Beyond yet, here are RaverRafting’s five reasons you need to.
1. The Music/Push the Button
The most obvious of the five, who doesn’t love some tear jerking trance? Maybe you want to jam out to some of Above & Beyond’s best like “A Thing Called Love”, “We Are All We Need”, “Salva Mea 2.0”, or “Sticky Fingers”. Or perhaps you just want to experience that magical moment when the beat dies down and the piano for “Sun & Moon” trickles in. Richard Bedford’s iconic voice echoes throughout and is matched by the powerful energy of the crowd. Thousands of die hard fans waiting in anticipation for that chosen one to push the button and unleash a storm of dancing and cheering. Let’s take a look at some of our favorite push the button moments.
2. The Passion
If you’re at a show and don’t feel the passion the fans have for Above & Beyond, you will certainly see it in Paavo Siljamaki. Paavo is 1/3 of Above & Beyond and is responsible for all the messages written during the show. He’s also the one who appears to be losing his mind on stage. Paavo’s smile goes from ear to ear and will stay that way for the majority of the show. Watching the ABGT100 live stream one day, my friend asked me, “Why does that one guy look like he’s on drugs?” Without even looking, I knew she was referring to Paavo. Little did she know, the music is Paavo’s high. Mixed in with his dancing and jumping skills, Paavo brings passion to a new level at Above & Beyond shows. How he manages to remain calm to type the messages will forever be a mystery.
3. The Messages
An Above & Beyond show would not be complete without the inspirational messages posted throughout the show. Their most known and famous being “Life is Made of Small Moments”. A small, but powerful message that everyone can relate to. Enjoy the small things like attending an Above & Beyond show, or meeting new friends there whom you may not see again. Life is too short to think for too long, live in the moment and enjoy the show. Above & Beyond reaches out to people through more than just music. These seasoned producers have been doing this for a long time, maybe you can take something from their inspirational messages. Without further ado, let’s take a look at some of their best messages!
4. The People
I personally hold trance fans to a higher standard than other electronic music fans. Part of it has to do with the music and part of it has to do with the type of people attending trance shows. I’ve attended many electronic concerts comprised of all different genres and seen just about everything. However, I’ve never once seen a fight at a trance show (knock on wood). With music so uplifting and positive, I could never imagine a fight breaking out. Trance comes with a sense of camaraderie that can be felt at every show. Meeting great people has always been part of the experience and some of the best I’ve met were through trance concerts. If you share your love for trance with those around you, you are part of the force that spreads the love and makes trance shows extraordinary.
5. The Memories
To sum everything up, attending an Above & Beyond show is about more than just the music. It’s about the fantastic people, the love for music, and the inspirational moments and messages. Having attended multiple Above & Beyond shows, I have some memories that will last me a lifetime. Whether it’s Sun & Moon blasting all around me or confetti raining down as my favorite song played. We all have our own personal moments and memories, but we all enjoyed them with each other and Above & Beyond.
