With only 2 more days until the gates at Kingston Downs open and CounterPoint kicks off 2014, everyone is bursting with excitement. Ravers are purchasing their last minute camping items, and getting travel plans situated, but have you actually thought about all the fun you’re going to have while you’re there? And we’re not just talking about the music, Counterpoint is a unique festival in that it includes some very special surprises for attendees.
There are tons of reasons to attend CounterPoint this year, but the #1 reason is that they have implemented so many extras for people to have a good time that you won’t see anywhere else this summer.
1. Cashless Program
Now you don’t need to worry about keeping track of your wallet or cash until you’re ready to go home. Just pre-register your wristband that they sent with your ticket, and you’re good to go. The Cashless Wristband is accepted at all bars and most vendors. And don’t worry about security or losing it, a PIN number will be required with every purchase.
2. Thursday Night BBQ
Instead of waiting in line for hours upon hours then rushing to set up your campsite in time to see your favorite DJ perform, you can come in at your leisure on Thursday at 4pm. If you have time, go check out the bonfire and BBQ featuring Star Slinger and Exmag, and maybe make a few new friends before the gates officially open.
3. GamePoint
One of the best parts of attending music festivals is the amount of fun you have, now CounterPoint has doubled the fun by adding some amazing larger-than-life versions of your favorite games. Chess, checkers, Jenga, Twister, Connect 4 and Ladder golf, bocce ball, and cornhole? Yes please.
4. Workshops
Renew your soul after a day of raging with CounterPoint’s workshops on mediation, yoga, hooping and even.. DJing?! This year CounterPoint has teamed up with Scratch DJ Academy and is hosting a workshop where you can get individual lessons for 3-5 minutes from real experts.
5. Pointguards
Several festivals have been implementing “safe” volunteers to walk around the grounds and make sure everyone is having a good time, but only Counterpoint has Point Guards. These guys will be handing out waters, taking pictures, and glitter bombing people! Look for these guys for a good laugh or if you need a friendly hand to help you find your friends.
