As summer slowly draws to close, so do the days until New York’s premier festival Electric Zoo. This tagging their festival with the word “Transformed” we can expect the Electric Zoo team and new partners ID&T to take this years installment to a whole new level. This year’s lineup is absolutely superb, offering acts that span all over the electronic music spectrum. You can get down with the underground at the Awakenings and Sunday School Groove tents, get your grime on in the Hilltop Arena or catch electronic dance music’s most popular acts at the Main Stage.
I’m sure many of you have looked at the lineup and have already begun to mentally make a schedule with all your favorite acts. But many veteran festival-goers will agree when we say, one of the best parts of a festival is discovering a new acts. If you always stick with your go-to artists you will never broaden your musical horizon and see what other amazing music is out there.
So with that being said, here is a list of 7 acts you may want to consider adding to your personal schedule.
1. Sam Feldt
New Deep House sensation Sam Feldt has had a phenomenal 2015 thus far. He recently has had huge success with reworking the classic “Show Me Love” and has remixes for the likes of Avicii and Icona Pop. Make sure to check him out Sunday at the Thomas Jack Stage.
2. Wiwek
In today’s big room scene there is a distinct and aggressive drum sound that has become popular amongst a lot of DJs. The root of this can be traced back to Dutch producer Wiwek. If you have the energy and are ready to go crazy make sure to check him out Saturday on the Main Stage.
3. DJ Marky
A true legend in the Drum N’ Bass scene, Brazilian Producer DJ Marky is set to grace Electric Zoo this year. Sticking to his vinyl roots, DJ Marky brings an action packed set including scratching on a record with the turntable upside down! If you are a Drum N’ Bass fan or have never seen a Drum N’ Bass set, we highly recommend checking this O.G. out on Saturday in the Hilltop Arena.
4. Hunter Siegel
Future House has been one of the most popular genres of 2015 and one of the true masters of this genre is Hunter Seigel. This young producer combines hard pounding bass and gritty synths to create tracks like no other. He has remixed Jack U & 3LAU and has collaborated with Zed’s Dead this past year. Make sure to check him out Friday at the Riverside Tent.
5. Mija
This girl really knows how to throw down! Mija will play one of the most energetic and dirty sets at Electric Zoo. Playing the Riverside Tent on Friday, Mija will have the crowd rocking with a mixture of house, bass and hip-hop. Female DJs are on the rise and this artist is a prime example.
6. SNBRN
With everyone and their mother making deep house now-a-days, it is hard to stand out in that genre. SNBRN is one of deep houses new and upcoming artists and has been pushing out tracks like crazy in 2015. His smash hit “Raindrops” has made it’s rounds on the music charts and continues to remain popular throughout the summer. SNBRN will definatley be a perfect way to get your festival started on Sunday at the Thomas Jack Stage.
