Festival season is only a few months away, and it’s time to start actively thinking about your plans. Try to figure things out beforehand instead of winging everything when you arrive. Trust us, we’ve done both. Without realizing it, you’ll learn a lot at these events about this crazy thing called life. Here are seven lessons you’ll take away from music festivals that can relate to your everyday life.
1. Budgeting is Key.
This one is huge! Imagine poorly budgeting and spending all your money in the first day or two – maybe you’ve done it. Then you are left fending for food, taxi rides, and water. You’ll most likely borrow money from a friend who has already learned this concept for themselves. Not having your budgeting down could put a lot of stress on you during the festival and fill up your mind with worries – no one needs that. Do yourself a favor and budget yourself comfortably for every day you are away – it’s worth it!
2. Be Responsible For the Community as a Whole.
Learning this lesson will help prevent bad situations from becoming tragedies. Often people turn a shoulder to strangers in need, we’ve seen it happen. It’s important to remember that if we all look out for each other our community will become an even better place. Caring for another humans well-being is an honorable trait – at shows and in everyday life. Karma will be good to you.
3. Without Your Health, You Have Nothing.
There is no single worst way to leave a festival than in an ambulance because of a medical emergency, especially one that could have been avoidable. Your body is a temple. Stay hydrated and eat regular meals. All that dancing around in the hot sun can really drain you, so make sure you are putting in the nutrients it needs! If you feel light-headed or dizzy, sit down for a bit. It’s okay, it happens to all of us. There are supplements in the market specifically designed to put back into your body what you are losing when you rave.
RaveAid is a very popular one, but good ole’ Gatorade also does the trick. Sunscreen is another biggie – don’t forget it and don’t forget to reapply (trust us, there is nothing worse than trying to jump with burned knee caps). It’s also very important to get a good nights sleep! You’ll be thanking yourself the week after the festival when you don’t feel like you are on your deathbed… well at least a less-painful deathbed.
4. Be Aware of the Energy You Carry; it Affects Everyone Around You.
An EDM show is the perfect place to see how people’s spirits bring energy to an area. No one likes to be around someone angry or dramatic. At a rave, you can feel the good vibes radiating off of one another. You’re jumping around with friends united by the love of music and everyone’s smile only makes yours bigger.
So next time you’re in your workplace and you see someone upset or under the weather, grab them a cup of coffee, pat them on the back, or simply crack a smile and start a conversation. Your positive energy travels far beyond music events. A simple gesture that lets a colleague know you’re there for them could change their entire mindset and mood for the rest of the week.
5. Actions Speak Louder than Words.
Ever been at a show drenched in sweat and dying of thirst? The stranger next to you offers you a sip of their water and you feel like the rave gods have opened up the gates of a well-hydrated heaven. Or maybe you want to get up on your boyfriend’s shoulders and the guy behind you lends his hand to help you up. Then the chick with 50 glow sticks gives you a few and your night is made. Little gestures from strangers, that are now your new friends, means a lot.
6. Be Yourself Because Everyone Else is Already Taken.
Ravers wear whatever they want, however they want. At music festivals anything goes when it comes to fashion, as well as dance moves. The people there for the right reasons embrace “plur” – peace, love, unity and respect. You’ll meet some of the most unique spirits at EDM events. It’s a place where everyone feels comfortable being themselves. Definite no judge zone…
Though raves are not the only place that you should embrace your unique character. Life is to short to live in the shadow of someone else. You shouldn’t be afraid to be who you are, people in the “real world” will respect you for it and those who don’t should be ignored.
7. When in Doubt, Dance it Out.

I leave a leave a response when I especially enjoy a article on a website or if I have something to valuable to contribute to the conversation. Usually it’s triggered by the passion displayed in the post I browsed. And on this post %BLOG_TITLE%. I was actually excited enough to drop a thought 😛 I actually do have a couple of questions for you if it’s allright. Is it just me or do a few of the responses look as if they are coming from brain dead individuals? 😛 And, if you are writing on other online sites, I would like to follow you. Could you make a list the complete urls of all your community pages like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?|
