It’s that time of the year again SCampers. Only one week until we return to our paradise at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, IL. Fun fact: in 2001, Summer Camp Music Festival’s first lineup featured around 20 bands over two days. Today, the lineup has grown to include over 100 jam bands and electro-soul artists making this 4 day event a bass lovers dream. This year you can catch Bassnectar, Slightly Stoopid, Girl Talk, Zac Brown Band, Wolfgang Gartner, Gramatik, Lotus, Koan Sound, and many more. Fans will also enjoy three days of moe. and Umphrey’s McGee. What more could you ask for? Summer Camp is all about spreading positive vibes and creating unforgettable memories with your SCamp family.
We complied seven reasons we can’t wait to make some incredible memories this year. Be sure to check out these awesome Summer Camp features and make the most out of your Memorial Day Weekend.
1. Thursday’s Pre-Party
This year’s Thursday pre-party is one of the most insane pre-party lineups we’ve seen; an impressive start to an already stacked weekend. For an extra $30 you can jam all night with Eoto, Future Rock, Manic Focus, Digital Tape Machine, Twiddle, and more. Purchase tickets here. Note: You must already own a three-day pass to attend Thursday’s pre-party.
2. Field Day
Festival-goers can participate in a team based competition all day Saturday for the ultimate prize: a keg party hosted by 312 Urban Wheat Ale (21+ for beer, root beer for the kiddies) Sunday afternoon. Sign up to be on one of four teams on Friday. You may want to brush up on your kickball, tug-o-war, capture the flag, and arm wrestling skills because you could walk away with fresh Summer Camp merchandise and late night tickets! Find more details and the full schedule of events here.
3. The VIP Lounge
This year the VIP Lounge will feature private sets from Break Science, The Floozies, Cosby Sweater, Keller Williams, Victor Wooten, Floodwood, Sun Stereo, The Mike Dillon Band, GROUNDNATION, and Brownie DJ Set featuring Marc Brownstein of The Disco Biscuits and Conspirator. This tent is the perfect place to kick-back, chill with artists and enjoy an intimate atmosphere. Your VIP ticket will also gain you access to exclusive bathrooms/showers, massages, and activities with band members. You still have time to upgrade your three-day pass here.
4. The Soulshine Tent
The Soulshine Tent is brought to your by the MAKE A DIFFERENCE team and provides festival-goers with the proper tools and knowledge to maintain a sustainable world. You can participate in multiple interactive activities ranging from “Companion Planting” to “Stepping Into The Hoop & Partner Hooping.” Other highlights include performances every night and if music lovers are up for the challenge, they can participate in MAKE A DIFFERENCE’s treasure hunt on the back of official programs. This treasure hunt can lead you to “Everyone Orchestra in the Red Barn” which is conduced by Matt Butler and featuring Al Schnier, Allie Kral, Joel Cummins, Vinnie Amico, Mike Dillon, Nick Piccininni, Bill Evans, Fareed Haque, Jay Barady, and special guest David Murphy of STS9 and DJ Logic. This is a super eclectic mix of members from Phish, moe., The Grateful Dead, String Cheese Incident, Club d’Elf, The Flecktones, and many more. Talk about awesome.
5. New Bassnectar Tracks
We’ve been watching Lorin Ashton like a hawk. Our obsession with his upcoming album titled NVSB is almost unnatural. But after his recent releases, “Ephemeral” and “Now ft. Rye Rye,” who isn’t obsessed? Now who’s excited to hear these tracks live for the first time? WE ARE.
6. The Golden Ticket Event
This year marks the fourth annual Golden Ticket event. These Golden Tickets won’t get you into Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory but it can get you into every Umphrey’s McGee show for an entire year, VIP tickets to Umphrey’s NYE run, signed merchandise, or maybe poster packs by Jeff Wood. Test your luck! Umphrey’s has partnered with Eagles Nest Outfitters to create custom bags for $30. There will be 25 Golden Tickets along with many other prizes amongst the bags. It’s like playing the lottery but everyone walks away as a winner. This year proceeds will benefit The Runway to Hope Foundation, a creative anti-bullying campaign focused on music as a great equalizer. Head over to the Soulshine Tent right before moe.’s set on Friday and join us for the shenanigans.
7. Zac Brown Band Live
You don’t have to be a fan of country music to enjoy Zac Brown Band’s amazing talent live. I believe this video says it all. Can we put in a formal request to see this cover live again?! Fans can look forward to extended jams and surprise guest appearances. They’re playing two different sets so choose one and go. You won’t regret it.
You still have time to purchase tickets to Summer Camp Music Festival.
